Armor
In this project, I produced armor for daily life, which shows contemporary issues a student faces with it. The armor has responded to the problem and has a solution to it. My body was the site that should have interacts with the armor.
Violence
Violence at schools has different formats, such as bullying and abuse. It is a behavior involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something. Also, violence can be verbal too, and it can cause emotional disturbances in a person who experienced abuse. Unfortunately, we still hear about violent news at school all around the world, and it happens to students of different ages and grades.
Factors of Violence at college students may include:
History of early aggressive behavior
Involvement with drugs, alcohol, …
Solution
Spark shape armor acts as a protection and defense against violence. Protection means having or showing a strong desire to keep someone or something safe from harm. The armor doesn’t let anyone be close to us regarding acting violence.
Defense means the action of defending from or resisting attack. Most creatures in the world have their own ability to protect and defend themselves in danger. In my design, sparks on the hand parts act as resistive elements, such as the porcupine protect itself with its spine to keep others away from it.
Moreover, the armor can help the victims mentally and emotionally because it gives them the power to protect themselves. A person who experienced an abusive situation mostly loses their power and their self-esteem, so they can not protect themselves if they experience violence again.
Materials:
Printed Spike (3D Print)
Cable ties
Rubber Band
Spiky village
This project was based on the concept and shape of the "Armor" I made, articulated with a clear exterior envelope strategy, and situated within the site.
Of particular importance will be an intensive study of the building’s interior systems, including storage, furniture, and people and the flows of activity that tie together and give specific material form to the various activities housed within your building.
The main site is Wedge Gallery which located at the Woodbury University. Also, I connected my site with the private pad to the library for the safety of the students during the night.
